Thursday, August 31, 2006 "And Joshua & Keegan stretched out their hand to their brother and said, rise up and walk....." In other words, Connolly started walking yesterday. That's 3 for 3 now. That's all I got.........have a good long week-end. O, it would seem that Keegan was making phone calls last night while watching The Wiggles. I hope there were no long-distance calls on there?!
Sunday, August 27, 2006 OK, so a friend of mine, (who will also remain nameless despite the fact he is an Oiler fan, but to his salvation also a Bomber fan), responded (kind of) to my previous blog questioning the very institution of Blogging. His basic response is to keep in touch with friends and family who are far away and to keep them updated on their life. That is absolutely cool, awesome and UN-gay. (Which is no longer an argument of mine concerning blogging - gay that is). HOWEVER......my friend MISSED the point and essence of my question which I will conveniently re-phrase here again; Has Blogging taken you away from in-your-face inter-action with people (when possible)? For example, when you want to know what's up with someone, do you pick up the phone first, or check their blog first? For another example, when you wonder how life is going with a friend, do you conveniently check their blog and assume all is COOL, or do you schedule a lunch and chat it up in person to find out the REAL story? Do not get me wrong, there are definitely GREAT reasons to BLOG or check BLOGS out, as has been noted. Some are even just plain enjoyable and funny to read (unlike this one)?! I was just making us all think, and obviously I did to some extent.....I also am not free of this problem as well. ALL I am saying....is give peace a chance John Lennon - Beatles.....I mean let's get back to basics.......as titled, nothing like good old face-to-face contact! In conclusion, no one who is, has been, or will continue to blog are 'gay'......perhaps just the certain team affiliations in which they associate. ;) And Heather McMillan....welcome to CALGARY......home of the almighty Calgary FLAMES. Be sure to ask one of us big, burly gentlemen to accompany you should you have to drive anywhere NORTH of this fine city. (Edmonton is especially scary I am told).
Monday, August 21, 2006 Does anyone else out there wonder if Blogging has taken them away from Real Communication with friends and/or family? I mean it is interesting, fun and even mind-boggling (blogging mis-spelled), but what about good old face-to-face conversations (where possible), or a warm & fuzzy phone call. (Not that your phone has to be over-heated or furry). Come to think of it, maybe that's why I wasn't so keen on it to start with, as opposed to my original, simple thought that is way "gay"? Just a thought......feel free to Blog, Call, or Visit about it in the near future. Cheers!
Thursday, August 17, 2006 I am not a lovey-dovey, huggy-wuggy kind of guy, but needless to say I love the mother of my "3 cool boys". And please know that you are still number 1 in my life!! Now, let's not do anything TOO drastic tonight.......I think 3 kids are enough, as much as we love 'em, lol. (Just so you all know, I did actually present my wife with a 10th anniversary white gold anniversary band for our 10 wonderful years). Later bloggers.....
Monday, August 14, 2006 I haven't been blogging much lately because I've been pretty busy painting. I have already re-stained the front and back decks redwood. About 1/6 of the fence is done, and I have also completed the window trims and doors on the main level of the house a beautiful redwood. (No, I do not have any doors on the second floor, but there are 3 windows, 2 with shutters). The scary part is the fact that I am terrified of heights for the second floor painting. Aisling suggests I hire somebody, but I insist on taking on my fear straight-on! (Just don't be surprised if I don't stay inside the lines). As long as I don't fall?! Our van has a nice new hitch and elctric brakes for our trailer which we neglected to pick-up this past Saturday due to a golf game I HAD to attend for my friends' bachelor party. (After my score - 103 - I should have painted instead.....but it was sort of fun). We will be picking it up this week-end. It will also be a good investment for the dogs, cause they can now come with us on our holidays instead of trying to find dog-sitters. (They can also be in the trailer when we have dog-fearing company, or if we need a place to put them if Aisling and I are busy with certain activities........never mind). Mom and Dad G, or grandma and grandpa to the kids, will be here for a few days on the 22nd. Should be a nice visit for them as they were last here in March (I think) and the boys (Keegan and Josh) are walking freely and with ease. Connolly is a book fiend....loves to read. ANd he knows how to mimmick a tiger and elephant, sound effects included. Anyway, work calls.................later blogger gurus.........
Thursday, August 03, 2006 About 3 days ago, I came home from work and saw one of my boys, Joshua, walk around the house non-stop for about 10 minutes. How cool is that?! (Not that I am personally trying to master this art, other than after a few sips of the brew on the week-end). Keegan was actually first at this, but only 5-7 steps at a time. Connolly and Keeg's watch Josh and laugh. (I am sure, for now, it is an envious laugh). Before long they'll ALL be walking and running after each other, and subsequently falling down and crying with bumps and bruises....boys, lol. Which reminds me, I better go get some skates for them now that motion on legs is around the corner. (Future Flames, or the re-incarnate Jets.......yes I believe in that type of re-incarnation, even as a Xian). In other news; our camping trailer will be officially in our driveway on the 12th. I can't wait!! Just found out that our house is worth even more than I thought in this HOT Calgary market. YEAH EQUITY!! Now, if we can just sit on it and not find anything else to splurge on......mind you, my eyes are getting older (along with the rest of me), and that 32 inch Sony is getting really hard to see....... I'll close off with a joke......... A father was trying to teach his young son the evils of alcohol. He put one worm in a glass of water and another worm in a glass of whiskey. The worm in the water lived, while the one in the whiskey curled up and died. "All right, son," asked the father, "what does that show you?" "Well, Dad, it shows that if you drink alcohol, you will not have worms." That's for you out there about to turn 30..........and I cut and pasted it from another website, I'm not a funny person....... I'm OOOUUUTTTT!!
